American Heart Association Midwest Rural Communities Grant

The American Heart Association is offering grants for rural organizations working outside of healthcare but interested in supporting community health in the Midwest Region.
Topics of interest:
- Blood pressure
- Nutrition insecurity
- Tobacco prevention and cessation
- CPR and cardiac emergency response
Examples of projects include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting and empowering community members to check their own blood pressure and connecting them to local care
- Systematically identifying community members facing nutrition insecurity and referring them to resources
- Supporting enhanced access to accessible, nutritious food
- Expanding the organization's tobacco free policy
- Connecting individuals to tobacco cessation support
- Enhancing cardiac emergency response planning in the organization or community by establishing a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan
Eligible applicants are rural organizations working outside of healthcare but interested in supporting community health in the Midwest Region. Examples of the types of applicants expected include churches, community centers, food pantries, and libraries.

Award ceiling: $1,500
Estimated total program funding: $10,000
Applicants that are not awarded funding will be invited to receive technical assistance from American Heart Association.
