Purpose

The T-Mobile Hometown Grant offers funding to complete community projects in rural, small towns.

Requested funding must be for a physical placemaking project. Grants are intended for shovel-ready projects that would not otherwise be possible to implement through local government/municipal funding.

Eligible grant uses include:

  • Construction and installation supplies and materials
  • Equipment
  • Labor costs for construction, rehabilitation, installation, and artist fees
  • Artist's supplies and fees associated with a community engagement design process
  • Streetscape and/or indoor furniture for a community space
  • Other physical items
  • Special events or public space activation programming up to 10% or $5,000 of total grant amount

Proposed projects should:

  • Fill a demonstrated need in the community
  • Connect the community in meaningful, innovative, and creative ways
  • Involve local organizations by incorporating them into the planning and execution processes and engaging the community in implementing the project
  • Be completed and usable by the public by May 31, 2027

Past projects have included:

  • Disaster relief
  • Small business center
  • Public library space
  • Mobile library
  • Emergency operations communications center
  • Outdoor recreation facilities
  • Family resource center
  • Senior center
  • Community garden
  • Farmers market and nutrition education hub
Eligibility

Elected officials, town managers/employees, tribal leaders, and nonprofit community leaders from small towns with population less than 50,000 can apply.
