Texas Women's Preventive Mobile Health Units Expansion Grant
Julia Solis
julia.solis@hhs.texas.gov
Texas Health and Human Services is offering operational support for new women's mobile health service delivery sites in rural areas of Texas, expanding access to preventive healthcare and support services.
Mobile Health Units (MHUs) include, but are not limited to, vans, recreational vehicles, and other vehicles that have been repurposed to provide space for clinical services. As a self-contained unit, MHUs can deliver services in geographically isolated areas or small towns that may lack access to healthcare providers. MHUs can also partner with brick-and- mortar clinics to connect vulnerable populations with current healthcare providers.
The program is designed to expand service capacity to areas of the state where women's preventive healthcare services are not readily available. MHUs are expected to either quickly link underserved women to existing women's health programs, offer continued telehealth services, or consistently operate to provide preventive healthcare services to women who have limited means of accessing care.
