The Rural Health Agriculture Family-Friendly Training and Designation (AFTD) is a training program designed to address healthcare access among agricultural and rural families. The program educates healthcare professionals about the challenges rural populations and farm families often face, such as limited access to healthcare; stressors, including weather, market fluctuations, and labor shortages; and how to address them.
The program has self-paced online modules that cover:
- Understanding implicit bias in healthcare
- Understanding rural and agricultural health
- Unique physical health risks in rural communities
- Unique factors affecting mental health
- Breaking the ice and building rapport
The target audience includes:
- Physicians
- Nurses
- Mental health providers
- Others interested in the topics presented
The cost of the training is $500. Participants may access the training at no cost using the code AFTDFREE.
The training has been approved for continuing education credit, AMA PRA Category 1 Credit, along with APA, and ANCC CEUs.
