Nmryaqs: Post-Baccalaureate Pathway for Enrolled Tribal Members
The Washington State University (WSU) Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine offers a 10-month program that supports the successful recruitment, training, retention, and graduation of medical students who are enrolled Tribal members.
Participants who successfully complete the program will receive conditional acceptance to the WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.
The program focuses on:
- Foundations of biomedical sciences
- Indigenous health and wellness
- Cultural engagement and community building
- Kaplan MCAT Prep course
- Population health and epidemiology
- Academic skills and wellness
- Clinical observation
- Research experiences
- Anatomy
- Preparation for medical school success
The pathway program runs from September to June each year and is held at the WSU Spokane Campus with support for relocating to Spokane, Washington, or surrounding Washington counties for the duration of the program.
Eligibility requirements:
- Be an enrolled member of a federally recognized Tribe
- Have a bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
- Have an overall undergraduate GPA of 2.6 or higher
- A prior MCAT score that is not lower than 7 points needed to achieve one of WSU's combination thresholds of GPA and MCAT
- Prior unsuccessful application to medical school is preferred; however, WSU will consider those who have not yet applied to medical school
- Plan to apply to medical school for an entering year of 2027 (applying by October 15, 2026)
- Washington residency or connections to Washington
The program will select up to 4 scholars.

- Receive conditional acceptance to the WSU College of Medicine for entering year 2027 upon successful completion of the program
