Purpose

The Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Program offers eligible applicants funding to implement new and enhance existing juvenile drug treatment courts (JDTCs) to improve outcomes for youth with substance use disorders and co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Funding will be awarded in 2 categories:

  • Category 1: Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Planning and Implementation Program: Supports establishing new JDTCs through planning and carrying out treatment and recovery services that improve outcomes for youth and enhance public safety
  • Category 2: Juvenile Drug Treatment Court Enhancement Program: Supports enhancing existing JDTCs by increasing the number of clients, improving quality, or implementing or enhancing a coordinated, multi-system approach

Rural communities have been awarded funding in the past.

Eligibility

Eligible Category 1 and Category 2 applicants include state and territorial, county, city, or tribal governments.

Category 1 - Planning and Implementation:

  • Award ceiling: $1,000,000
  • Project period: 36 months
  • Estimated number of awards: 2

Category 2 - Enhancement:

  • Award ceiling: $825,000
  • Project period: 36 months
  • Estimated number of awards: 3
Estimated total program funding: $4,475,000

This award requires a 25% match which may be in-kind or cash.
