The Rapid Response Rural Data Analysis and Issue Specific Rural Research Studies supports rapid rural health research to improve rural healthcare. This program provides rural stakeholders with timely access to data analysis on pressing rural health issues.
The goal of this award is to fund analysis that furthers understanding on emerging factors affecting rural health to improve healthcare in rural America. The recipient should identify, compile, and analyze data to inform the improvement of health care in rural areas nationwide. Findings from these analyses will help rural healthcare stakeholders, including rural healthcare providers, states, professional associations, State Offices of Rural Health, state rural health associations, and others at the federal, state, and local levels.
Expectations of this program include:
- Staffing a rapid response data team
- Producing quick turnaround data analysis on a regular and recurring basis in response to emerging rural healthcare and policy issues
- Responding regularly to technical assistance requests
- Designing and completing short-term issue-specific rural health services research studies
Activities should advance 1 or more of the Make America Health Again priorities such as work that informs:
- Addressing root causes of poor health
- Improving access to primary care, behavioral health, preventive care, or developmental services
- Expanding nutrition programs or chronic disease prevention
- Supporting early childhood development or autism services
- Preparing systems for value-based care
- Partnering with tribal health systems
Applicants must disclose whether they participate in their state's Rural Health Transformation Program activities. If so, work must be non-duplicative, coordinated, and complementary.
Eligible applicants:
- State, territory, county, city, township, and special district governments
- Independent school districts
- Public, state-controlled, and private institutions of higher education
- Native American tribal governments
- Native American tribal organizations
- Nonprofit organizations with and without 501(c)(3) status with the IRS
- For-profit organizations and small businesses
- Faith-based organizations
