The Justice for Families Program offers grants designed to improve the response of the civil and criminal justice system for families with a history of domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking, or in cases involving child sexual abuse. Activities should improve the capacity of courts and communities to respond to families through court- based and court-related programs; supervised visitation and safe exchange of children and youth by and between parents; training for people who work with families in the court system; and civil legal assistance and advocacy services to victims and non-offending parents.
Funding priorities:
- Combatting human trafficking and transnational crime, particularly crimes linked to illegal immigration, transnational criminal organizations, and cartel operations, including projects that strengthen law enforcement investigation and prosecution while supporting safety and justice for trafficking victims who have also suffered domestic/dating violence, sexual assault, and/or stalking
- Projects dedicated to direct victim services and/or criminal justice responses— including investigation, arrest, prosecution, and enforcement of protective orders— particularly in small towns and rural, remote, and tribal communities.
