Community-Initiated Grants are available to fund education and training programming and research projects led by community-based organizations. Grant projects should address pressing health and safety issues in agriculture, forestry, or fishing. Recent projects have addressed heat illness prevention on fruit and vegetable farms, emergency action planning in ranching, heavy machinery safety in logging, and mental health in dairy workers.
All types of community-based organizations and project directors are eligible to apply.
Priority is given to projects addressing populations in Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Utah, and Wyoming.
Award ceiling: $20,000
Project period: January 1 - September 1, 2027
Estimated number of awards: 2-4
Estimated total program funding:
$30,000
