Purpose

The Rural Hospital Leadership Award honors an exceptional leadership team that has guided their rural hospital and community through transformational change and healthcare innovation.

Applicants must demonstrate efforts in one or more of the following initiatives:

  • Coordinated care
  • Improved population health
  • Clinical integration
  • Alternate payment methods
  • Advances in access to care/telehealth
  • Extended or expanded access to coverage
  • Quality measurement and outcomes
  • Workforce innovation and solutions
  • Pathways to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging
Eligibility

Applicants must include a member from the hospital board, chief executive officer, president, or administrator and at least 1 other member of hospital leadership of an AHA member hospital located in a rural area.

Amount of funding

A $2,000 stipend will be provided to defray the team representative's expenses to attend the AHA Rural Leadership Conference, February 23 - 26, 2025 in San Antonio, Texas.
