Aug 18, 2020 - Analyzes county-level job reports and finds that rural employment grew at a slower rate from May to June than the rest of the nation. Findings also show that compared to June 2019 employment rates, every county type has seen job loss this year, but rural counties saw a less pronounced decline, with COVID-19 affecting urban areas the most.

Jul 29, 2020 - The Department of Health and Human Services has issued a request for information regarding programs that provide services to help youth age 16-24 advance education and employment outcomes, with a focus on disconnected or opportunity youth (those from lower income families and communities). Information submissions will be compiled in a program compendium to be released at a later date. Submissions are due by September 28, 2020.

Jul 22, 2020 - USDA's Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBCS) will hold listening sessions on July 28th and 30th to hear from the public about the new Rural Innovation Stronger Economy (RISE) program and regulation. The RISE program is intended to assist rural job accelerator partnerships in improving the ability of distressed rural communities to create high-wage jobs, accelerate the formation of new businesses, and help rural communities identify and maximize local assets.
