Nov 17, 2023 - Notice from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announcing its intent to establish an Advisory Committee on Long COVID. The Committee will help inform executive branch actions on Long COVID and associated conditions, focusing on health equity. HHS also invites nominations of individuals to serve on the Committee. Specific areas of expertise are being sought from Long COVID and related groups, professional associations, disability and chronic illness groups, public health and related groups, healthcare and social providers, employee and employer-related groups, research, and non-voting industry representatives. Nominations are due by January 16, 2024.

Census Bureau: Request for Nominations of Members To Serve on the National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic, and Other Populations

Nov 8, 2023 - The Census Bureau is seeking nominations to serve on the National Advisory Committee on Racial, Ethnic and Other Populations (NAC). The NAC provides advice to the Director of the Census Bureau on the economic, housing, demographic, socioeconomic, linguistic, technological, methodological, geographic, behavioral, and operational variables affecting the cost, accuracy, and implementation of Census Bureau programs and surveys, including the decennial census. The committee aims to have balanced representation among its members in terms of geography, age, sex, race, ethnicity, technical expertise, community involvement, and knowledge of Census Bureau programs. Nominations are due by January 10, 2024.

Oct 31, 2023 - Describes a program designed to support Nevada Native students in pursuing careers in biomedical and health sciences. Notes that tribal communities experience health disparities and health fields need more tribal members with knowledge of tribal culture. The program currently begins at the university level and can extend through a student's professional career. Plans are being made to offer the program at the community college level.

Oct 27, 2023 - The National Rural Health Association has announced the 2024 class of Rural Health Fellows. The 17 chosen fellows will attend the NRHA Rural Health Policy Institute and present policy papers developed during the fellowship.

Oct 19, 2023 - Call for experts to participate in a workshop on research needs for harm reduction strategies for people who use drugs. Areas of expertise include opioid use disorder, harm reduction strategies, drug data collection and program evaluation, drug policy, and lived experience. The deadline to submit nominations is October 25th.
