Access to Services Diminishes in Rural America as Populations Age
With data derived from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the American Community Survey this brief investigates the effect of a changing median age and population size in metropolitan and nonmetropolitan counties of the U.S. Population decline and population aging in nonmetropolitan counties is described as negatively impacting the local economies resulting in fewer health and education services available locally.
