Mar 20, 2024 - The Indian Health Service (IHS) is accepting applications for grants for Native Public Health Resilience. The purpose of this program is to assist applicants to establish goals and performance measures, assess their current management capacity, and determine if developing a Public Health program is practicable. Specifically, programs should assess the availability and feasibility of the 10 Essential Public Health Services (EPHS). Applications are due by May 14, 2024.

Mar 18, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) is seeking comments on rules, regulations, and available training and technical assistance (TTA) supports impacting the American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) Head Start community. ACF seeks input on the following topics to improve the quality of Head Start services in areas of great need: eligibility; program options; quality environments; child health and safety; tribal language preservation, maintenance, revitalization, and restoration; family and community engagement; workforce; training and technical assistance; partnerships with state systems; facilities; fiscal operations; early childhood systems; and more. Comments are due by September 16, 2024.

Mar 11, 2024 - The Indian Health Service (IHS) is accepting applications for the Indians into Medicine (InMed) program. The purpose of this program is to increase the number of American Indian/Alaskan Native (AI/AN) health professionals by encouraging AI/AN individuals to enter the health professions and removing barriers to serving AI/AN populations. Target populations should not include tribes within North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Montana, which are served by the existing University of North Dakota InMed grant program. Applications are due by May 14, 2024.

The purpose of this program is to recruit, retain, graduate, and increase the number of registered nurses, certified nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners who deliver healthcare services to American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. Specifically, this program aims to recruit and train AI/AN individuals in nursing fields and provide continuing education to nurses and advanced practice nurses serving AI/AN communities.
