Purpose

Virginia Nursing Scholarship Programs provide scholarships for students enrolled in nursing education programs to become registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing aides and who agree to serve in a medically underserved area of Virginia upon graduation. Recipients must agree to a service contract of one year of service per year of scholarship received.

Eligibility

Eligible nursing fields include:

  • Registered nurse
  • Licensed practical nurse
  • Certified nursing aide

Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and demonstrate financial need.

Amount of funding

The maximum scholarship award for CNAs is $1,000 and up to $2,000 for LPNs and RNs.

The amount of each scholarship award is dependent upon the amount of funds appropriated by the Virginia General Assembly and the number of qualified applicants.
