Michigan Physician Investigator Research Award

This program is for physicians who have an interest in health and medical care research related to one or more of the following:

  • Quality of healthcare
  • Cost of healthcare
  • Appropriate access to health and medical care for Michigan residents

The purpose of this award program is to enable physicians to explore the merits of a research idea by providing seed money for a pilot study, feasibility study, or small research study.

Preferred research topics include:

  • Hypertension
  • Major depression
  • High cholesterol
  • Coronary artery disease
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Alcohol use disorder
  • Substance use disorder
  • Psychotic disorder
  • Crohn's disease/ulcerative colitis

Physicians based in Michigan are eligible to apply.

Up to $10,000.

Potential applicants are encouraged to submit a concept paper to for review prior to the submission of a full proposal.

Applications are accepted year round and are reviewed in April, July, and November.
