The Flex program will provide funding for Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in rural North Dakota for the following activities:

  • 340B external audits
  • Developing programming in response to identification of unmet community health and health service needs
  • Economic impact analysis studies
  • Rural Health Clinic (RHC) assistance program

Critical Access Hospitals in North Dakota and their owned Rural Health Clinics are eligible to apply.

Amount of funding

The program will award contracts in four different areas.

  • 3 awards of up to $10,000 for a 340B external audit performed by a vendor of the recipient's choice
  • 7 awards of up to $5,000 to support programming and activities that address a significant need identified by the hospital's most recent Community Health Needs Assessment
  • 1 award of $15,000 for partial funding of an economic impact analysis conducted by the North Dakota State University (NDSU) Department of Agribusiness and Applied Economics
  • 4 awards of up to $2,500 for the RHC assistance program to help RHCs stabilize their organizational environment

The CAH receiving economic analysis impact funding is required to contribute $10,000 toward the cost of the study.
