The Pre-Graduate Scholarship Program provides financial support for American Indian and Alaska Native (federally or state-recognized) students to enroll in courses leading to a bachelor’s degree in specific pre-professional areas such as pre-medicine, pre-dentistry, and others as needed by Indian health programs.


Awards are made to American Indians (Federally recognized Tribal members, first and second degree descendants of Tribal members, and state recognized Tribal members, first and second degree descendants of Tribal members), or Alaska Natives that have completed high school or its equivalent, and have been accepted into a pre-graduate program leading to a baccalaureate degree in the following:

  • Pre-Dentistry
  • Pre-Medicine
  • Pre-Optometry
  • Pre-Podiatry

Financial aid is paid for the 12-month period from August 1 through July 31 of the next academic year, for up to four academic years full-time or eight academic years part-time. This support covers tuition and required fees for health profession courses as well as additional educational and living expenses.
