The 2018 application cycle is closed. Health Professions Education Foundation plans to re-evaluate and reorganize its scholarship programs, and expects the new cycle to open in January 2019.

The Vocational Nurse (VN) Scholarship provide scholarships to California residents who are enrolled in an accredited VN program and who are willing to work in a medically underserved area of California upon graduation. Scholarships are intended to pay tuition, required fees, books, supplies, and educational equipment costs related to the applicant’s VN education.

Recipients must agree to provide direct patient care on a full-time basis in a designated shortage area in California for a minimum of two years after graduation.


California residents who are enrolled in an accredited California VN program. Applicants must be free from any other service agreement.

Amount of funding

Up to $4,000 per year with a 2 year service obligation.
