Purpose

The RuralMed Program at the University of North Dakota's School of Medicine and Health Sciences offers medical students full tuition in the form of a forgivable loan in return for a 5-year service agreement to practice family medicine, internal medicine, or general surgery in rural North Dakota upon graduation.

Eligibility

The program accepts applications from medical students who are enrolled at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Priority consideration is given to first-year medical students pursuing family medicine, then first-year medical students pursuing another eligible specialty, then any medical student pursuing family medicine.
