The Community Match Rural Physician Recruitment Program offers financial assistance to physicians who agree to practice primary care for a period of 4 years in rural, medically underserved areas of Arkansas.


Physicians must either be in their residency or no more than 2 years out of residency.

Eligible physicians include:

  • Family medicine
  • General internal medicine
  • General pediatrics and general internal pediatrics
  • General OB/GYN
  • General surgery
  • Emergency medicine
  • Geriatrics

Amount of funding

The maximum amount a participant receives is $80,000 over the 4-year service period. The community provides $10,000 per year and the state provides $10,000 per year.

The physician receives $5,000 at the end of every 3-month service period.

Application process

A physician and a rural community in Arkansas must apply jointly. Application forms are available on the program website.
