The Kansas Osteopathic Medicine Service Scholarship awards scholarships to osteopathic medical students pursuing a career in primary care medicine, who agree to work in an underserved geographic area of Kansas. Applicants may attend any accredited osteopathic school in the United States.

Each year of the scholarship obligates a year of service.


Applicants must be residents of Kansas and agree to serve in a underserved geographic area of Kansas upon graduation.

Primary Care Medicine includes:

  • General internal medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Family medicine
  • Family practice
  • Obstetrics and gynecology
  • Geriatric medicine
  • Emergency medicine

Underserved areas are designated as any Kansas county except:

  • Douglas
  • Johnson
  • Sedgwick
  • Shawnee
  • Wyandotte

Award ceiling: $25,000 per year, up to 4 years
Expected number of awards: 32

Application process

Applicants must submit a FAFSA online at by April 1.
