Oklahoma Medical Loan Repayment Program

Offers loan repayment assistance to primary care physicians who agree to practice in rural communities in Oklahoma with the goal of providing medical care and services to underserved Oklahoma citizens with special emphasis on Medicaid recipients as authorized by the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.

Recipients must agree to serve for at least a 2-year period and may extend their agreement and financial assistance up to 4 years.


Primary care physicians (family medicine, geriatrics, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology or emergency medicine) are eligible to apply. Physicians already serving in rural areas of Oklahoma are ineligible to apply.

Amount of funding

$160,000 maximum for 4 years

$25,000 first year, $35,000 second year, $45,000 third year and $55,000 for the final year. This is based on the amount of educational loans to be repaid.
