Nebraska Loan Repayment Program for Rural Health Professionals offers loan repayment assistance to certain healthcare professionals who agree to practice for a minimum of 3 years in a state-designated shortage area of Nebraska.


To be eligible, students must be Nebraska residents, have a non-provisional license, and not be in residency training.

Eligible specialties, areas, and facilities may be found on the interactive maps on the program website.

Geographic coverage
Amount of funding
  • $180,000 - $200,000 for doctors and dentists
  • $90,000 - $100,000 for other professions

The local entity must agree to provide a 50% match per year.

The actual amount awarded will depend on the health practitioner's student loans, the local entity's local match, and the availability of state funds.
