Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance to physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants who agree to practice in an underserved area of Vermont.

Recipients must sign a 12-24 month service agreement and practice for at least 20 hours per week at designated sites.


Recipients must be Vermont residents who are U.S. citizens or nationals.

Eligible professions include:

  • Physicians (MD or DO)
  • Psychiatrists
  • Advanced practice registered nurses
  • Certified nurse midwives
  • Physician assistants

Eligible primary care specialties include:

  • Family medicine
  • General internal medicine
  • Pediatrics
  • Obstetrics/gynecology
  • Geriatrics
  • Psychiatry

Amount of funding

Up to $20,000.
