Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program for Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Certified Nurse Midwives
Vermont Educational Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance to primary care physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and certified nurse midwives who agree to practice in a workforce shortage area of Vermont.
Recipients must sign a 12-24 month service agreement at designated sites.
Recipients must be Vermont residents who are U.S. citizens or nationals.
Eligible professions include:
- Physicians (MD, DO, or ND)
- Psychiatrists
- Geriatricians
- Advanced practice registered nurses
- Certified nurse midwives
- Physician assistants
Eligible primary care specialties include:
- Family medicine
- General internal medicine
- Pediatrics
- Obstetrics/gynecology
- Geriatrics
- Psychiatry
Eligible work sites are primary care practices (ambulatory/outpatient), select urgent care sites, outpatient mental health/substance use disorder settings, long-term care facilities/skilled nursing facilities, Critical Access Hospitals, Federally Qualified Health Centers, community health centers, home health, inpatient mental health settings, or paid employees who work at a free healthcare clinic in Vermont that offer primary/substance use disorder care and chronic condition prevention/management.
Up to $75,000 per year, based on the amount of matching funds, for a maximum of 6 years.
Employer matching funds are required.
