Purpose

Maine Discretionary Grants program awards funding to organizations working to expand access to care and improve health, especially for uninsured and/or medically underserved populations in Maine.

The types of projects that would be a good fit include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborative planning that involves more than one organization
  • Strategic planning processes including facilitation and planning costs
  • Long-term brand and service awareness development such as websites and reports
  • Piloting new projects related to work/programs the organization is currently providing
  • Policy research and/or analysis
  • Minor equipment purchases that cost less than $10,000 and expand access to those facing the greatest barriers to care
  • Service expansion or activities with lasting potential to improve health care delivery, coverage, or quality
Eligibility

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, federally recognized tribes, governmental/public agencies, and educational institutions are eligible to apply.

Application process

The 2024 application period is open for 11 months beginning in December 2023. A letter of intent must be submitted online through the application portal. Selected applicants will receive an email with further submission instructions.
