Maine Discretionary Grants program awards funding to organizations working to expand access to care and improve health, especially for the uninsured and/or medically underserved in Maine.

Funding can be used for:

  • Collaborative planning efforts that involve more than one organization
  • Pilot projects
  • Policy research and analysis
  • Minor equipment purchases that provide access to health services for for people experiencing barriers to care
  • Activities with the potential to significantly improve health care delivery, coverage, or quality

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, federally recognized tribes, governmental/public agencies, and educational institutions are eligible to apply

Project grants are typically under $5,000, but may go up to $10,000 for statewide projects.

Application process

Applicants should complete the eligibility checklist on the program website. If eligibility is confirmed, the system will give access to submit an initial inquiry form online.
