Purpose

Maine Discretionary Grants program awards funding to organizations working to expand access to care and improve health, especially for uninsured and/or medically underserved populations in Maine.

Discretionary grants projects typically demonstrate one or more of the following key characteristics:

  • Responds to an emerging issue, current need, or window of opportunity
  • Plans for, pilots, or implements a new or creative approach to better serve groups or populations that face disproportionate barriers to accessing health services and achieving the best possible health
  • Has a focus on groups or populations that face disproportionate barriers to accessing health services and achieving the best possible health
Eligibility

Nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations, federally recognized tribes, governmental/public agencies, and educational institutions are eligible to apply.

Amount of funding

Up to $10,000, with the average award between $5,000 - $6,000.
