New Jersey J-1 Visa Waiver Program

New Jersey Department of Health
Applications accepted on an ongoing basis

The New Jersey State 30 J-1 Visa Waiver Program offers a J-1 Visa waiver to foreign physicians who commit to serving for 3 years in an underserved area of New Jersey, allowing them to remain in the United States. The program is intended to provide physician services in areas that typically have difficulty attracting and retaining physicians.

Physicians who have training in family practice and obstetrics/gynecology will receive priority for sponsorship. Physicians in general pediatrics and internal medicine are also eligible; however, the need in the area for the services of the specific specialty must be well documented.

Physicians with subspecialties or fellowship experience are not considered to be primary care physicians for the purpose of this program, and are generally not eligible for participation.
