The Janet L. Hoffman Loan Assistance Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance to Maryland residents who provide full-time public service in Maryland state government agencies, local government agencies, or nonprofit agencies that serve low-income or underrepresented populations. Eligible professions include nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, social workers, clinical counselors, teachers, and lawyers.

Applicants must have earned a degree from a college in Maryland. The applicant's employer must help low-income, underserved residents or operate in an underserved area of the state. Annual gross salary cannot exceed $60,000 - $75,000, depending on the profession.
The amount of repayment is based on the total amount of eligible loans. Awards can be made up to $10,000 per year.
