Purpose

The New Mexico Health Professional Loan Repayment Program provides loan repayment assistance to specific healthcare professionals who agree to practice in a medically underserved area of New Mexico.

Applicants must practice full-time and make a 3-4 year service commitment depending on the health profession in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA).

Eligibility

Applicants must be U.S. citizens and be residents of New Mexico that are licensed or certified to provide care in New Mexico.

Amount of funding

Physicians may be eligible for a minimum of $75,000 per year, limited by educational debt. Other health professions may receive a maximum of $25,000 per year, limited by educational debt.
