New Mexico Nursing Loan for Service Program

The New Mexico Nursing Loan for Service Program offers forgivable loans to nursing students who agree to practice in a healthcare shortage area of New Mexico upon completion of their education.
For every year of service provided in a designated shortage area within New Mexico, a portion of the loan will be forgiven. If the entire service agreement is fulfilled, 100% of the loan is eligible for forgiveness.
Applicants must be New Mexico residents accepted into a nursing program at a New Mexico public college or university and enrolled at least half-time.
The award is based on financial need of the student. Awards cannot exceed $16,000 per year, renewable for up to 4 years upon resubmission of an application each year.
