Purpose

The North Dakota Federal/State Loan Repayment Program (SLRP) provides loan repayment assistance to certain medical professionals who agree to practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area of North Dakota.

Sites must provide matching funds. Recipients must agree to a minimum 2-year service agreement.

Eligibility

Eligible professions include:

  • Physicians
  • Dentists
  • Nurse Practitioners
  • Certified Nurse Midwives
  • Physician Assistants
  • Psychiatric Nurse Specialists
  • Health Service Psychologists (Clinical and Counseling)
  • Licensed Clinical Social Workers
  • Licensed Professional Counselors
  • Marriage and Family Therapists
  • Registered Nurses
  • Pharmacists

Amount of funding

Applicants may receive up to $50,000/year for a two-year commitment (site provides 1:1 match).

SLRP applications are accepted year round, and reviewed in order of date received. Awards are issued based on qualifying criteria and availability of funds.
