The Oklahoma Nursing Student Assistance Program offers forgivable loans to Oklahoma students pursuing nursing degrees in return for agreeing to practice in Oklahoma upon graduation. Priority is placed on practicing in rural communities.

Loans are forgiven if students complete a service contract. Loans are forgiven at the rate of one year of service per year of loan.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, legal residents of Oklahoma, and unconditionally admitted as a student in an accredited program of nursing study.

Eligible nursing degrees include:

  • Licensed practical nursing (LPN)
  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor's of science in nursing (BSN)
  • Master's of science in nursing (MSN)
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

Participating nurse practitioners (MSN/DNP) must establish a rural practice. Service obligations for RN and LPN participants must be fulfilled in a rural community.
