Purpose

The Tennessee State Loan Repayment Program (TSLRP) offers loan repayment assistance to primary care practitioners who agree to serve in a Health Professional Shortage Area of Tennessee.

Recipients must agree to a full-time service contract for a minimum of 2 years.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements and a complete list of primary care specialties is available in the TSLRP web announcement.

Eligible professions have included:

  • Primary care physicians (MD and DO)
  • Dentists (DDS and DMD)
  • Advanced practice nurses
  • Physician assistants
  • Registered nurses
  • Primary care behavioral health and mental health professionals
  • Pharmacists

Amount of funding

The maximum award is $50,000 for an initial 2-year service obligation.

Recipients in good standing have the option to renew their service contract for a maximum of $20,000 per year as long as they still have outstanding loan balances.
