Tennessee State Loan Repayment Program

The Tennessee State Loan Repayment Program (TSLRP) offers loan repayment assistance to primary care practitioners who agree to serve in a Health Professional Shortage Area of Tennessee.
Recipients must agree to a full-time service contract for a minimum of 2 years.
Participants must be U.S. citizens or nationals, hold an active Tennessee license, work full-time (40 hours per week) or part-time (20 hours per week) at an approved site, and agree to a 2-year service commitment.
Practice sites must be nonprofit outpatient clinics or nonprofit-operated, for-profit facilities that accept Medicare, Medicaid, and CoverKids. Sites must be located within a federally designated HPSA and serve all patients, regardless of their ability to pay.
Eligible disciplines:
- Physicians and psychiatrists (MD/DO)
- Dentists (DDS/DMD)
- Registered dental hygienists (RDH)
- Nurse practitioners (NP)
- Physician assistants (PA)
- Certified nurse midwives (CNM)
- Registered nurses (RN)
- Pharmacists (PharmD)
- Licensed professional counselors (LPC)
- Licensed clinical social workers (LCSW)
- Marriage and family therapists (MFT)
- Health service psychologists (HSP)
Awards range from $10,000 to $140,000 for a 2-year service obligation. Flat-rate maximum awards by profession are listed on the loan repayment programs tab of the program website.
