Purpose

The Iowa Health Care Professional Incentive Program offers loan repayment assistance for individuals in specific health professions:

  • Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (Substance Abuse, Behavioral Health, Mental Health)
  • Nurse Educator
  • Occupational Therapist
  • Physical Therapist
  • Physician Assistant
  • Physicians (MD and DO)
  • Registered Nurse
  • Social Worker

Applicants must agree to a full-time, up to 5-year practice commitment in one of the high-need areas in Iowa, as shown on the map on the program website. Part-time commitment can be up to 7 years.

Eligibility

Applicants must be licensed to practice and employed in an eligible healthcare profession and eligible practice area within 6 months of signing a program agreement.

Applicants cannot have previously been awarded funding under any of the other Iowa loan repayment programs listed on the program website.
