The West Virginia State Loan Repayment Program offers loan repayment assistance to primary care health professionals who agree to practice in a Health Professional Shortage Area of West Virginia.
Applicants must agree to a minimum 2 year service contract, with a maximum of 4 years.
Eligible professions include:
- Primary care physicians
- Nurse practitioners
- Physician assistants
- Dentists
- Pharmacists
- Nurse midwives
- Clinical psychologists
- Substance use disorder (SUD) counselor
Maximum award amounts vary by profession as follows:
Physicians, dentists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists:
- $40,000 for initial 2 years and $20,000 for 1 year extensions
Nurse midwives, clinical psychologists, and SUD counselors:
- $20,000 for initial 2 years and $10,000 for 1 year extensions
