Purpose

The North Central Regional Center for Rural Development (NCRCRD) at Michigan State University provides seed grants aimed at enhancing the ability of land grant institutions to positively influence the quality of life in rural areas of the 12-state North Central Region.

Program priority areas:

  • Creating resilient communities and economies
  • Developing leadership and civic engagement
  • Promoting community health and wellness
Eligibility

Current faculty and staff of land grant institutions in the North Central Region are eligible to apply.

Available in 12 states
Amount of funding

Award ceiling: $25,000 for single principal investigator (PI) projects and $40,000 for projects with 2 PIs
Project period: 1 year

Application process

Applicants that would like feedback on a project idea prior to submission may submit an initial concept paper any time before the proposal deadline. Concept papers will be reviewed in the order they are received.
