Purpose

The Indian Highway Safety Occupant Protection Grant provides funding to federally recognized tribes for implementing traffic safety programs and projects designed to reduce the number of traffic crashes, deaths, injuries, and property damage.

The 2021 funding round is focused on Child Passenger Safety Seat Grants.

Funds may be used for:

  • Purchasing car seats and supplies
  • Distribution of car seats
  • Car seat inspections
  • Checkpoints
  • Roadside clinics
  • Trainings
  • Community events
  • Distribution of educational materials
Eligibility

Federally recognized tribes are eligible to apply.
