Purpose

The West Texas AHEC offers an interactive, online CHW certification course with service learning opportunity for individuals seeking to become CHWs in Texas. Covers 9 competencies including:

  • Communication
  • Interpersonal and relationship building
  • Service coordination and navigation
  • Capacity building
  • Advocacy
  • Teaching and education
  • Organizational skills
  • Evaluation and research skills
  • A knowledge base on specific health issues
Eligibility

Participants must be Texas residents that are 16 or older.
