Purpose

The Dogwood Health Trust Leverage Fund covers the costs of the services of professional, experienced grant writers to help individual organizations and collaboratives in the the Dogwood Health Trust service area pursue funding from national and state sources. The Leverage Fund matches nonprofit organizations with grant writers, and supports other costs associated with preparing a grant application, such as travel stipends and meeting costs.

Eligibility

Eligible participants are nonprofit organizations, government agencies, and collaboratives in the Dogwood Health Trust service area.

The Dogwood Health Trust service area covers the Qualla Boundary and counties in Western North Carolina, including Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, and Yancey.

Amount of funding

Amounts vary based on need. This opportunity covers the cost of services; it is not a grant to the organization.

Application process

The steps to accessing the Leverage Fund include:

  1. Identify funding source(s) the organization would like to pursue
  2. Email leveragefund@dht.org to discuss the potential project. If the plan fits the mission and is a match for the requirements of the potential grant program, the Dogwood Health Trust will match the organization with a grant writer.
  3. Work with the grant writer to submit a funding request to a state or national funder
  4. Inform Dogwood Health Trust about the results.
