Purpose

Montana AHEC MedStart is a health career exploration summer camp for high school students in Montana who are current sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Scholarships are available for students who come from underserved backgrounds, low-income families, rural areas, or first generation college students.

The camp is a 5-day program that offers hands-on experience for students within healthcare fields. 2026 Camp locations and dates are:

  • Montana State University - Billings, June 14-18, 2026
  • University of Montana in Missoula, June 22โ€“26, 2026
  • Montana Technological University in Butte, June 28-July 2, 2026
  • Miles Community College in Miles City, July 19โ€“23, 2026
  • University of Providence in Great Falls, July 26โ€“30, 2026
Eligibility

Eligible applicants are high school students in Montana who are current sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Homeschooled and GED students are eligible. Students may be no older than 18. Students may apply for a second year of MedStart.

For the 2026-2027 school year, preference will be given to junior and senior applicants.
