Montana AHEC MedStart Summer Camp
Montana AHEC MedStart is a health career exploration summer camp for high school students in Montana who are current sophomores and juniors. Scholarships are available for students who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, low-income families, rural areas, minorities, or who will be first in their family to attend college.
The camp is 5-day program that offers hands-on experience for students within healthcare fields. Sessions may include:
- Blood typing
- Taking blood pressure
- Job shadowing
- College planning
- Financial aid
2020 Camp locations and dates are:
- University of Montana in Missoula, June 7-11, 2020
- University of Providence/Great Falls College, June 14–18, 2020
- Miles Community College in Miles City, July 12–16, 2020
- Montana Tech/Carroll College in Butte/Helena, July 19–24, 2020
- Montana State University Billings, July 26–30, 2020
Eligible applicants are high school students in Montana who are current sophomores and juniors. Homeschooled and GED students are eligible. Students may be no older than 18. Students may apply for a second year of MedStart, but may not attend camp at the same campus 2 years in a row.
The cost to attend is $500. Scholarships are available.
