The Iowa Department of Public Health provides grants to support innovative projects that address current issues and challenges faced by rural communities in Iowa.

Focus areas include:

  1. Growing Rural Iowa: Supports community leaders as they work to inform and connect leaders to rural issues, grow vibrant community gathering places, and develop tools to train and educate the next generation of leaders
  2. Investing in Rural Iowa: Supports projects that develop creative, scalable development solutions including projects that address rural housing solutions, infill and reuse strategies, and affordable, sustainable designs
  3. Connecting Rural Iowa: Improve and expand opportunities for diverse members of rural communities to access high-speed broadband service

Eligible Iowa applicants include:

  • Businesses
  • Colleges and universities
  • City and county governments
  • Private 501(c)3 nonprofit agencies
  • Foundations

The project should include a collaboration of partners with a single eligible entity serving as the primary applicant.

Amount of funding

Award ceiling: $50,000
Award floor: $10,000
Project period: 1 year

Applicants must provide a cash match for 50% of the award request.
