The Mississippi State Department of Health provides loans for rural hospitals to assist in providing direct healthcare services for citizens of Mississippi.

Funds may be used for:

  • Maintaining or upgrading the rural hospital's facilities
  • Maintaining or increasing the current staff of the rural hospital
  • Providing healthcare services that are not currently available to citizens

Eligible applicants are licensed hospitals that have 50 or fewer licensed general acute, non-specialty beds that are in good financial condition prior to application submission.

Amount of funding

Loan amounts range from $25,000 - $100,000. Terms will range between 5-20 years, depending on the project type. The interest rate is fixed at 1% per year.

An application fee of $1,000 is due at the time of submission of the completed application. A commitment/closing fee of 1% with a minimum of $1,000.00 is due prior to the committee approval.
