Purpose

The Florida Blue Foundation will provide grants to improve access to affordable, healthy, and nutritional food for populations who live in food insecure communities in the state. Special consideration is given to applicants serving rural counties.

Focus areas:

  • Initiatives to provide nutrition prescriptions, education, counseling, and medical nutrition therapy to individuals and communities, with priority for programs that provide fresh produce and healthy food to support lifestyle changes and improve overall community well-being
  • Food distribution programs to address food access gaps and promote community resilience, including food banks, delivery services, pantries, and mobile markets, as well as urban agriculture and collaborative solutions that increase access to nutritious food
Eligibility

Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations, public agencies, universities, colleges, training centers, community centers, schools, faith-based institutions, and healthcare related facilities that:

  • Are incorporated in Florida
  • Have the capacity, expertise, resources, knowledge in the field, and time needed to carry out the intent of the program
  • Have expertise in delivering educational and awareness programs on targeted topics to targeted populations described in this application
  • Have expertise in developing and managing programs
  • Have the capability to reach the target populations
  • Have been in operation for at least 3 years since receiving their IRS 501(c)(3) designation
