Purpose

The West Virginia Center for Nursing offers scholarships for licensed practical nurse (LPN), registered nurse (RN), LPN teaching certificate, masters, and doctoral nursing students who agree to complete a service obligation in West Virginia.

West Virginia has widespread nursing shortages both in rural and more populated areas. While not required under the service obligation requirements, many scholarship recipients choose to work in rural and other eligible areas areas of the state.

Eligibility

Eligibility requirements are different for each scholarship program. Choose the appropriate scholarship on the program website for specific eligibility information.

Scholarship amounts:

  • LPN students: Up to $3,000 per year
  • RN students: Up to $7,500 per year
  • LPN teaching certificate students: Up to $1,000 per year
  • Master's or doctoral nursing education students: Up to $15,000 per year
