Essentia Health offers a 12-month family medicine
obstetrics fellowship program designed to provide
practical experience for family medicine physicians who
intend to practice in a rural community. The fellowship
takes place in and around Duluth, Minnesota.
Participants will gain experience managing high-risk and
complicated pregnancies and births. Rotations will
- Obstetrics (20 weeks)
- Outpatient primary care at a rural clinic location
- Critical care (4 weeks)
- Emergency/trauma (4 weeks)
- Electives (4 weeks)
- Hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of
Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree
- Have completed a 3-year family medicine residency
program accredited by the Accreditation Council for
Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American
Osteopathic Association (AOA)
- Hold or be eligible for a Minnesota medical license
- Hold or be eligible for board certification
- Have a valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)
