The Buell Foundation offers grants for early childhood projects in Colorado in the following areas:
- Assessment and evaluation
- Behavior and social competence
- Early childhood education and preschool programs
- Home visitation
- Quality improvements
- Parenting education
- Professional development and education
Areas of interest include:
Projects should support children from birth to age five. Funding is prioritized for program support, operating support, technical assistance, and capital improvements. Capital funding is awarded one grant cycle per year and prioritizes expanding licensed childcare and preschool slots through building purchases, construction, expansion, or renovations within the next 24 months.
Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and government entities in Colorado.
Historically, over 65% of grants have been awarded to programs serving communities outside of the Denver metropolitan area.
Awards typically range from $10,000 to $50,000.
