Purpose

The Healthy Foods Initiative provides loans to healthy food businesses, such as retail grocery providers, carts, co-ops, farmer markets, trucks, delivery services, food production companies and distributors, and urban and rural agricultural projects in Colorado. The goal of the fund is to reduce the number food deserts and communities that struggle to offer healthy food options due to a lack of healthy food providers.

Loan recipients also receive access to an online resource library and personalized coaching through a business navigation service. Business navigators can provide assistance on topics, including but not limited to:

  • Business planning
  • Sales and marketing
  • Finance and accounting
  • Cashflow and profitability
  • Post-COVID reopening and marketing strategy
Eligibility

Small businesses in Colorado that are unable to get traditional bank financing are eligible to apply.

Colorado Enterprise Fund loans may range from $1,000 to $1,000,000. Loan rates are fixed with terms up to 7 years.
