Purpose

This opportunity is a community of practice for grantmakers, lenders, and investors who are committed to investing in Indigenous communities with a specific focus on agriculture and food systems.

Participants will:

  • Interact, learn, and build relationships with Native American practitioners, organizations, and communities offering food systems solutions
  • Share and sharpen their skills and strategies for investing in Indigenous partners who are leading sustainable agriculture and food systems work
  • Build awareness of and respond to barriers that Native communities and Tribal governments face in obtaining funding
  • Network with other funders committed to investing in Indigenous communities

Schedule:

  • August 24-27, 2026: In person meeting in Suquamish, Washington
  • October 13, 2026 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific): Virtual Session 1
  • December 3, 2026 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific): Virtual Session 2
  • February 4, 2027 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific): Virtual Session 3
  • April 8, 2027 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific): Virtual Session 4
  • June 17, 2027 (11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Pacific): Virtual Session 5
  • August 18-20, 2027: In-person immersive learning retreat in New Mexico
  • Optional one-on-one office hours with program leads for customized feedback and insights
Eligibility

Eligible participants are grantmakers, lenders, and investors who are committed to investing in Indigenous communities.

Amount of funding

The cost of participating in the community of practice is $5,000 for members and $6,000 for non-members. A $1,000 deposit is required at the time of registration.

The group is limited to 15 participants.
