Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) Training Award
The Network of the National Library of Medicine (NNLM) Consumer Health Information Specialization (CHIS) Training Award offers eligible applicants training to strengthen the professional knowledge and experience in the provision of consumer health information as well as empower libraries and other organizations to train staff in skills needed to deliver reliable health information.
Selected awardees will expand the reach of NNLM Training by presenting an NNLM CHIS class, based on existing class material. Providing CHIS classes in your community include, but are not limited to:
- Present a CHIS class to your local public library branch or system, online or in-person
- Provide an instructional session at an upcoming meeting of your local association
- Offer training to community college or high school librarians
Eligible applicants must have a current CHIS Level 1 or 2 from the Medical Library Association and be affiliated with an NNLM member organization.
Selected applicants will be paid $300. Funds will be distributed after the class has been taught and reporting requirements have been completed. 7 awards will be granted. Funds are available until all awards have been granted or until the award end date.
