Purpose

The Sexual Assault Services Program (SASP) offers funding to support the establishment, maintenance, and expansion of rape crisis centers and other essential programs that directly serve victims of sexual assault. SASP funding supports 6 key purpose areas and eligible programs must address at least one of the following:

  • 24-hour hotline services
  • Accompaniment and advocacy
  • Crisis intervention, short-term individual and group support services, direct payments, and comprehensive service coordination
  • Information and referral services
  • Community-based, culturally specific services
  • Development and distribution of educational materials

Priorities include victim services, especially housing, and improved law enforcement response in rural and remote areas, tribal nations, and small towns that often lack resources to effectively combat domestic violence and sexual assault.
